The K-type thermocouple (Chromel–Alumel) is the most commonly used general-purpose thermocouple, known for its durability, accuracy, and affordability. It offers a wide temperature range from -200 °C to +1350 °C (-330 °F to +2460 °F) with a sensitivity of approximately 41 µV/°C.

Engineered to perform well in oxidizing atmospheres, it provides consistent readings.
